Our story

Sotheaccordionneverfallssilent.

You hear the accordion at every village fête, yet hardly anyone plays it. So we built an online accordion that shows you every button and the bellows direction, with sheet music and courses from Slovenian teachers. You learn at home, whenever you have time.

01Chapter one

A sound everyone knows.

The accordion isn't just an instrument. It's Sunday morning in grandma's kitchen, the marquee at the fire brigade's fête and that third dance at a wedding when nobody looks at the clock any more. Almost everyone in Slovenia knows someone who plays it. And almost everyone has said to themselves at some point: I'd love to learn that too.

That's exactly where our story begins. With a sentence we've been hearing for years, and with the question of why so few people get from that wish to their first song.

Sunday, 11 am

Grandma's kitchen

The first song you know by heart.

Saturday, 10.40 pm

The fire brigade's marquee

When the bellows pull, the whole tent stands up.

June

A wedding, the third dance

Nobody looks at the clock any more.

December

The living room, under the tree

One accordion, three generations.

Sunday, 3.10 am

The last bus home from the fête

Someone at the back is still working the bellows.

Tuesday at six. Every week. Even when it doesn't suit you.

02Chapter two

Where it gets stuck.

The teacher lives in another town and has a free slot on Tuesdays at six. The sheet music is photocopies of photocopies, and every teacher writes it their own way: in numbers, then in letters, then just by ear. At home, nobody knows whether to push the bellows or pull.

The first week is fun, the third is hard work. After two months the accordion ends up in the cupboard. Not for lack of will. But because the learning got stuck in everything around the music, not in the music itself.

03Chapter three

An accordion that shows you.

We built an accordion that lives in the browser. A button lights up when it's its turn, the colour tells you the bellows direction, and the tempo is yours. The one below is playing a song right now. All by itself.

Warming up the bellows
PUSH
Frajtonarica

Tap any button

Dvigni zlato kupico · ans. Mira KlincaMuted

Every button lights up

The number on the button is the finger, the colour is the bellows direction. Green pushes, brown pulls. No more guessing.

The tempo is yours

Slow down without distortion, stop mid-bar, loop the hard bars until they sit.

Notation from home

Songs are written with buttons and bellows direction, the way accordion players read them. No foreign symbols.

Nothing to install

Phone, tablet or computer. Open the browser and play. The sheet music you buy is yours forever.

04Chapter four

The people behind the music.

Behind every song on frajtonarca is a person who can play it and explain it. Teachers write the sheet music and record the courses, and we take care of everything else.

01
Verified

Vetted teachers

We meet every one of them and listen to them play first. There are no anonymous courses on frajtonarca, only people who really know their craft and can explain it too.

02

Fair pay

Every piece of sheet music and every course is sold by the person who made it. The earnings are theirs, transparent down to the cent.

03

Sheet music you understand

The teacher writes the music with buttons and bellows direction. The accordion plays it, and you see it on the buttons.

04
👍Camera · the picture stays with you

Hands on the bellows, not the mouse

While you play, both hands are busy. So you stop and start the accordion with a gesture in front of the camera, without touching a thing.

05Chapter five

From an idea to every home.

  1. Spark

    Just one thought

Why not learn the accordion the way we learn everything else today: at home, whenever you have time, on a phone or a computer?

  2. Instrument

    An accordion that lights up

First came the accordion in the browser. Button by button, with bellows that go the right way and a tempo that waits for you.

  3. Notation

    Sheet music you understand

Then sheet music in the notation accordion players know. Open a song, the accordion plays it, you watch and repeat.

  4. Community

    The first teachers

We invited teachers people know from the stage and the classroom. Their sheet music and courses are now open to everyone, not just those who come to a lesson.

  5. Today

    Here we are now

New songs and courses keep arriving, and the ideas mostly come from you. Almost every improvement started with the words: could it work like this too?

  6. Tomorrow

    What's still to come

That the accordion will be heard in every Slovenian home. And that someone who picks it up for the first time today will be playing at their first village fête a year from now.

Heritage

Songs that live on.

Every arrangement we add is one more tune saved from being forgotten. That's the part of the story closest to our hearts.
